ISISERETTES DRILL & DRUM CORPS

(Promoting self expression and creativity through music & dance)

The Isiserettes are a non-profit 501-(c)-(3) group organized in 1980 to give Des Moines area youth something exciting and positive to do.  The Isiserettes are composed of both males and females ranging from the ages 7 to 18 years old. Two of the major goals set for the youth are to build character and social skills.  We stress the importance of a formal education while helping the youth develop their creative and natural abilities.  With the recent creation of an Educational Endowment Fund, we are able to provide motivational incentive in the area of education.  We pride ourselves on our ability to expose the group to other diverse communities and environments different from their own.

The Isiserettes have traveled throughout the State of Iowa as well as the United States serving as ambassadors for the Black Community, City of Des Moines and the State of Iowa.  The team has been awarded numerous trophies and awards for their performances.  We have been honored to receive the NAACP Community Service Award of Excellence and the KCCI TV-8 Leading the Way Award for Volunteer Service.

In January we were honored to be able to perform at an inaugural event for incoming Governor Chet Culver. 

The Isiserettes have done halftime performances for the Denver Nuggets (NBA) most recently doing the opening home game for the Nuggets 2007 playoff run. We have also done halftime performances for Iowa State University, University of Iowa, and Drake University, in 2007 performing at the Missouri Valley Conference Women’s Championship game.  We have done a WNBA event, and several AFL games around the country.  In addition to the local celebrations and parades across the State of Iowa that we participated in we have taken part in the National Governor’s Association Annual Conference, Council of State Governments Midwestern Legislative Conference both of these were held in Des Moines, the Iowa State Quarter Launch a National Golf Tournament and an International Frisbee Tournament.

Although our team members have changed many times through out the years, our vision hasn’t, Isiserettes Drum and Drill Corps “Tradition-Pride-Dedication” promoting self expression and creativity through music and dance.

In 2007 the team is celebrating 27 years and looking to the future for the next 27!!
